Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about Scanamix
How does Scanamix identify tracks?+
Scanamix segments your mix into short clips and sends each one through audio fingerprinting engines — primarily ACRCloud. The engine compares the audio fingerprint against a database of over 100 million tracks to find matches, then returns the track name, artist, and a confidence score.
Will it recognise bootlegs or unreleased tracks?+
Unlikely. For a track to be identified, its audio fingerprint needs to exist in the recognition database. Bootlegs, unreleased edits, and private remixes typically aren't in any commercial database, so they won't be matched. You'll see these appear as unidentified segments in your tracklist.
Are you storing or downloading my music?+
No. All audio is processed transiently — it exists in memory only for the duration of the scan and is deleted immediately when processing completes. We never store, archive, or redistribute your audio. This applies to both file uploads and URL submissions.
For full details, see our Terms of Service (section 5.2) and Privacy Policy (section 4).
How long does a scan take?+
Most mixes are processed in around 60 seconds regardless of length. YouTube URLs may take a little longer due to additional download processing. You'll get a real-time progress update while your scan runs.
What audio formats and sources are supported?+
You can upload MP3, WAV, or FLAC files directly, or paste a URL from SoundCloud, YouTube, or Mixcloud.
What do the confidence scores mean?+
Each identified track comes with a confidence score indicating how certain the recognition engine is about the match. Higher scores mean a stronger fingerprint match. We recommend verifying lower-confidence results before sharing your tracklist publicly.
How do minutes and billing work?+
Free accounts get one free scan — up to 3 hours — no minutes or credits to manage. Just scan your first mix and see the results. Paid plans use a minute-based system: each scan consumes minutes equal to the duration of your mix — a 60-minute mix uses 60 minutes. Paid plans include a monthly minute allowance that resets each billing cycle. You can also buy top-up packs that never expire.
See our pricing page for full plan details.
How do I contact you?+
The fastest way is through our Discord community. You can also find contact details on the Contact page, or reach us through the support option in your account settings once logged in.
Can I export my tracklist for SoundCloud, YouTube, or Mixcloud?+
Yes — Scanamix generates platform-ready formatted tracklists that you can copy with one click. We support YouTube chapter format, SoundCloud descriptions, and Mixcloud show notes. You can also export as JSON.
Why didn't it identify all the tracks in my mix?+
Track recognition relies on matching audio fingerprints against a database of commercially released music. Common reasons a track might not be identified include: unreleased or private tracks (bootlegs, white labels, private edits); niche or underground genres with lower database coverage; heavy mixing and layering that diverges the fingerprint from the original; live recordings with crowd noise or PA distortion; and very new releases not yet indexed in the recognition database.
Recognition rates vary by mix — a commercial house set might hit 80%+, while an underground mix with unreleased material might be much lower.
